Atlanta Dream snap their two-game slide, top Seattle Storm 70-53 – WNBA Recap
Angel McCoughtry scored a game-high 17 points as Atlanta Dream beat the defending WNBA champion Seattle Storm 70-53 on Sunday night to end their two-game losing streak. The victory also snapped a three-game winning streak of Seattle.
Erika de Souza racked up 13 points, shooting 6 for 10 from the field, grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals in the victory. Coco Miller came off the bench with 10 points and four rebounds for the Dream, who have won six of
their previous ten games.
Only two Seattle players reached double figures on the night. Swin Cash led Storm with 16 points, three rebounds and two steals. Cash shot 5 for 11 from the floor and 6 for 7 from free throw line. However, the 31-year-old forward
committed five turnovers in more than 31 minutes of action.  Katie Smith chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds for Storm, who have lost five of their previous ten games. Smith hit 4 for 8 from the field, including 3 for 5 from three-point range.
Atlanta shot 42.3 percent (30 for 71) from the field and 60 percent (9 for 15) from free throw line while Seattle shot 38 percent (19 for 50) from the floor and 70.6 percent (12 for 17) from line. Storm committed 27 turnovers,
including 10 in the first quarter, while Atlanta committed just 17. Dream also outscored Seattle on points in the paint 40-22.
Atlanta played a floor games this time and dished out 19 assists while Seattle had just 10 assists. In addition to that, the rebounding of the Dream was comparatively better than the visiting team, at 32-26.
Atlanta held Seattle to 22 points in the first half and carried a 12-point lead, 34-22, at halftime. Dream then outscored Storm 21-17 in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 55-39. Leading by 16 points after three, Atlanta
maintained their momentum throughout the fourth quarter and walked away with their ninth victory of this season.
Atlanta coach Marynell Meadors praised the brilliant performance of her team and said at the end of the game, "We led from start to finish,” "It was a great team win because everyone made valuable contributions. Seattle fought
hard, but we just outfought them."
