Atlanta Dream’s Angel McCoughtry named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month
The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) has crowned Atlanta Dream forward Angel McCoughtry as the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for the regular season games played in July.
McCoughtry played commendably throughout the month, leading Atlanta to a 5-3 record. She played a very vital role in Atlanta’s five-game winning streak during the month. In the month under the spotlight, the 24-year-old forward
headed the league with an average of 25.1 points per game, was ranked second with 2.7 steals and also registered 5.1 rebounds per game. She recorded a 42 percent shooting from the field during that period and also slipped in 70 percent of her free throws.
McCoughtry, who is a University of Louisville product, earned consecutive ‘Eastern Conference Player of the Week’ honours during the previous month. She scored at least 20 points five times, including two games of 30-or-more, while
recoding a double-double once. McCoughtry scored a total of 201 points, grabbed 41 rebounds, dished out 24 assists and forced 22 steals in the eight games played in July.

July 9 vs. Chicago Sky
McCoughtry scored a team-high 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out six assists and stole the ball twice in Dream’s 81-69 defeat to Chicago Sky on July 9.
July 13 vs. New York Liberty
The player once again posted a team best 17 points in Atlanta’s 91-69 loss to New York Liberty on July 13. She hit 5 for 16 from the field and 7 of 8 from free throw line on the night.
July 16 vs. Chicago Sky
McCoughtry added a game-high 24 points, five rebounds and four steals as Atlanta snapped their two-game losing with a 76-68 victory over Chicago Sky on July 16.  She scored 16 of her points in the second half of the game.
July 19 vs. Indiana Fever
Angel had a contribution of 15 points, five steals and three rebounds in only 19 minutes as her team defeated the league-leading Indiana Fever 84-74 on July 19. It was the second consecutive victory for Atlanta.
July 20 vs. Washington Mystics
The two-time WNBA All-Star erupted with a season-high 33 points as Dream recorded their third straight win with an 86-79 victory over the Washington Mystics on July 20. She also added three rebounds, three assists and three steals
in the game. The player ended the night on a 10 for 18 shooting from the field and 11 for 17 from the line.
July 26 vs. Tulsa Shock
The 6ft-1in forward racked up a career-high 37 points, including 22 in the first half, as Atlanta crushed the slumping Tulsa Shock 76-68 on July 26, for their fourth straight win. She also had four rebounds three steals and two
blocks for the winners. McCoughtry hit a brilliant 11 for 22 from the field and 15 for 19 from free throw line.
July 28 vs. Los Angeles Sparks
The player recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds in a win over the Los Angeles Sparks, 89-80, on July 28. She also added seven assists and two steals.
July 31 vs. Connecticut Sun
Angel McCoughtry pinned 36 points, but Dream saw their five-game winning streak snapped with a 99-92 defeat to Connecticut Sun. Her shooting from the floor in the losing effort was impressive as she went 14 for 27 in 30 minutes.
