Atlanta Falcons QB’s Coach Bob Bratkowski on Jacksonville Jaguars radar for offensive staff role
The Jacksonville Jaguars are reported to have been weighing their options of attracting another coaching staff from the Atlanta Falcons.
As of the latest, the team management is targeting Falcons’ quarterbacks’ (QBs) assistant coach, Bob Bratkowski to accept the offensive co-ordination duties with them under their head coach, Mike Mularkey.
The Jaguars have already hired Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coach, Mike Mularkey, in role of a head coach, in place of their former coach, Del Rio, who had been fired by former team owner, Wayne Weaver, on November 29, 2011.
Mularkey was unveiled by Jacksonville’s new owner, Shad Khan, and general manager, Gene Smith, at a news conference, on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.
Both, the new coach and manager, had spoken of their belief in the Jaguars' current side, saying it was very close to turn around and be a consistent winner on the field.
It was expected that the reshuffling that had started with the sacking of their former coach will gain further grounds after the hiring of a full-time coach.
True to those anticipations, the new coach has apparently targeted his former assistant and colleague, Bob, to act as his assistant in the offensive department of the team.
The possibility of Bob’s move to the Jaguars is seen to be a realistic one as both officials have worked together at the Falcons and will certainly find it easier to co-ordinate with each other, again.
Reports have hinted that it was probably a recommendation from Mularkey that Bratkowski’s potential hiring was being pursued by the Jacksonville management.
Bob is also expected to fit well into his new offensive role with the Jaguars, given the reason that his immediate boss, head coach, Mularkey, while having worked as an offensive co-ordinator at the Falcons, has plenty of offensive experience.
Being in-charge with offensive coaching experience is expected to make Bratkowski’s tasks of offensive co-ordination much easier and benefit him to greater extents.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have played their last five games of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season with their former defensive assistant coach, Mel Tucker, in charge as an interim coach.
He ended the season with a record of 2-3.
Overall, the Jaguars had remained 5-11 in the season, which proved to be another failure by them during the past four years, and among other issues, their coaching problem became the highlight of the season.
The controversy took so many twists and turns and finally settled by the announcement of the club's sale to Shahid Khan, the Pakistani-born American businessman, by the franchise's former owner, Wayne Weaver.
Mr. Khan, along with the team’s manager and new coach, had spoken highly of his side. He said that he was hopeful of building the Jaguars as a consistent winner on the field and a role model off the field.
