Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White in Twitter rant over NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's salary - NFL News
The National Football League Compensatory Committee headed by Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank in January awarded NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell a seven year contract extension that will pay him a total of $ 20 million in wages.
That figure though did not sit well with Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White.
In a series of tweets, White blasted the league for paying so much to Goodell and in the process may have gotten himself in trouble with the same person who pays his own $ 50 million contract wages.
The wide receiver on Tuesday, let rip at the NFL on twitter.
"How in the h**l can u pay a man this much money that cant run tackle or catch,"
That was not the end of it as the 30-year-old veteran continued his rant saying,
“Roger Goodell is getting over never seen anything like it 20 million for looking over the league with tremendous help I guess the NFL is banking. The NFL is not a company it's a nonprofit organization that makes a lot of profit."
Falcons, owner Arthur Blank will not be too pleased to hear that one of his own players is criticizing a move that he endorsed and may well fine the player for his outspoken comments.
When asked by one of his followers if he will be fined for his latest outburst the seven-year NFL veteran responded by saying
"I hope not im praying not i need my money,"
He also turned his ire on a follower who told him that Goodell runs the NFL whose popularity and status as one of the biggest league’s in the world helps pay for his huge wages.
White responded by saying that,
"Thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard the players make this league dont ever forget that,"
The wide receivers rant is a latest in a series of previous twitter outburst.
White in 2010 had to apologise after making colourful remarks about Atlanta Falcons fierce rivals New Orleans Saints.
The wide receiver made it to the playoffs with the Falcons in the wildcard round but was knocked out by New York Giants 24-2 as the Falcons once again choked during a postseason game.
White covered 1,296 receiving yards in the regular season and scored eight touchdowns.
