Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith is unhappy – NFL News
Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith seemed unhappy with 27-31 defeat of his team against New Orleans Saints in Week 10.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Smith said:
“When you lose a football game you’re not happy. There are 53 guys that went down to New Orleans and we didn’t play well. They (Saints) played better than we did and they ended up getting the victory.”
Saints have crushed Falcons’ dream of unbeaten run in this season. After losing their first game of the season now they are tied with Houston Texans for the best record in the National Football League (NFL).
Falcons are leading National Football Conference (NFC) South, while Saints (4-5) are placed at third spot.
It was an interesting game as both teams went neck-and-neck. In the first quarter both teams scored a touchdown each. Falcons’ tight end Tony Gonzalez received a two-yard pass from quarterback Matt Ryan and scored a touchdown in the second quarter.
On the other hand, Saints tight end Jimmy Graham scored two touchdowns after receiving 29-yard and 14-yard passes respectively from quarterback Drew Brees in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, only Saints got the chance to score a touchdown when wide receiver Marques Colston received a seven-yard pass from Brees and increased the score to 17-28.
In the fourth quarter, Falcons made a comeback with a touchdown; Gonzalez received a six-yard pass from Ryan followed by a 20-yard field goal by kicker Matt Bryant.
At the end of the game, Saints’ kicker Garrett Hartley kicked a 31-yard field goal and won the game.
Smith knew very well about the positives and negatives of his team’s performance, he added:
“There are positives out of every game and there are negatives. Again, in the National Football League most games are going to come down to a handful of plays and that indeed was the case yesterday against a really good football team. It was an electric
atmosphere.”
Saints played well and proved that they are a strong team. Though it was really hard for Falcons to digest their first defeat in this season, they should now move on and work harder to win more games in the season.
