Atlanta Falcons performance analysis till Week 7 – NFL Special Part 2
Falcons enjoyed taste of victory in first three weeks. Going into Week 4, the confidence level of the team was sky high.
Week 4: Carolina Panthers
Although Falcons were not as dominating as they were in previous three games, they did manage to grind out a win against Carolina Panthers, thanks to a last-minute field goal by Matt Bryant.
Bryant scored three crucial field goals, two of which came in the final five minutes of the game, to give his team the victory.
Quarterback Matt Ryan was superb as usual. He completed 25 out of 40 passes for a massive 369 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Running back Michael Turner carried the ball 13 times for 103 yards but failed to score a touchdown.
Wide receiver Roddy White had a superb day on the field as he received eight passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns.
Week 5: Washington Redskins
After trailing 7-10 at the end of the third quarter, Falcons made a stunning comeback to take a 24-17 against Washington Redskins.
Falcons defence kept Redskins’ second overall pick of this year draft quarterback Robert Griffin III under control in a much disciplined performance.
Turners’ touchdown with less than three minutes remaining in the game was enough for defence to run out the clock without letting Redskins offence reach the end zone.
Wide receiver Tony Gonzalez received 13 passes for 123 yards and scored a touchdown. Meanwhile, Ryan scored two touchdowns and completed 34 passes for 345 yards.
Week 6: Oakland Raiders
It was another marvellous field goal from Bryant that continued Falcons’ unbeaten run as they beat Oakland Raiders 23-20.
Bryant scored a marvellous 55-yard field goal with one second remaining to give Falcons their sixth victory of the season. Bryant finished the game with three field goals.
Ryan had an average day on the field as he threw three interceptions during the game. He ended up with 24 of 37 for 249 yards and a touchdown. Turner was also not at his best and carried the ball 11 times for a mere 33 yards.
Heading into bye week, Falcons were clearly on top of National Football Conference (NFC) South.
