Atlanta Falcons say "no" to featuring on HBO's Hard Knocks - NFL News
HBO’s football reality show “Hard Knocks” is one of the most anticipated sports shows in America as the program chronicles a team’s preparations for the new season during training camp and preseason each year.
After a one year hiatus last season due to the National Football League (NFL) lockout the show is looking for franchises that will allow its camera crews to film its training camp.
One team which will definitely not feature on the show is the Atlanta Falcons.
The news comes from sources close to the talks according to ESPN and the Falcons after long discussions across the board have decided to refuse the chance to do the show.
Atlanta Falcons would have made for a great storyline as the franchise continues to struggle with its postseason results each season and would have given fans an in-depth view on how head coach, Mike Smith prepares his team for the new season.
Falcons’ general manager, Thomas Dimitroff in an earlier interview on Thursday declined to divulge information on whether the franchise will feature on the show by saying.
“Right now, I have nothing to offer on that,”
Adding further he said.
“TV really doesn’t mean that much if we’re not putting wins in the win column.
However, with the Falcons out, HBO will continue to look for takers among the rest of the NFL teams and two franchises which are the front runners to return are the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets.
The Jets were the last team to feature on the show in 2010 and the program got its highest ratings with fans getting to see the inside view on the team’s preparation for the 2010-11 season while also watching the Jets struggle to end the holdout of cornerback,
Darrelle Revis.
Jacksonville have also featured on the show and with new owner, Shahid Khan trying to build the marketing potential of the franchise they seem like a likely destination for this year’s show.
However, New York Jets once again would make for the best storyline with the team bringing in highly popular quarterback, Tim Tebow after a trade with the Denver Broncos and coach, Rex Ryan’s personality makes for some interesting television viewing.
