Atlanta Falcons win by 19-13 against Dallas Cowboys – NFL Recap
Atlanta Falcons defeated Dallas Cowboys, 19-13, in Week 9 game on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA.
The game was tough from the start as Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey scored a couple of field goals, one from 23 yards and other from 32 yards, in the first quarter to take the lead.
Falcons kicker Matt Bryant performed the same action later when he got two successful field goal attempts (from 45 and 46 yards respectively) in the second quarter to equalise the score.
Bryant successfully kicked four out of six field goals. In this season, he is 20 for 23 attempts. After the game he said of his missed attempts:
"Tonight was not a very good day as far as overall body of work, it was just one of those days where you have to have a short memory and get ready for the next game."
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was 24 of 34 for 342 yards, and set the record for highest yards passed in this season.
Falcons coach Mike Smith was satisfied by the performance of team. He said:
"We have a very good football team, it says a lot about the resolve because there is going to be ebbs and flows in a football game, and there were a lot tonight. We did a nice job staying focused."
Falcons running back Michael Turner carried the ball 20 times for 102 yards and a touchdown. In the second half when the score was 6-6, he scored a touchdown to take the score to 13-6.
Bryant scored a field goal from 36 yards in the final quarter and increased the lead to 10 points.
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo performed quite well by finishing 25 of 35 for 321 yards and one touchdown, though he could not prevent the defeat.
In the final quarter, Romo sent a 21-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kevin Ogletree, taking the score to 13-16. However, Cowboys could not provide more scoring moves.
Falcons wide receiver Roddy White received the ball seven times for 118 yards that is the highest receiving rate in Falcons history. Wide receiver Julio Jones received five catches for 129 yards.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett was disappointed with the team, he said:
"This is a challenging place to play at. They did more good things. We didn't do enough to win this game in all three phases of our football team."
Falcons are the only team in the National Football League (NFL) to have remained unbeaten this season. The players are in good form and performing well, and they are leading National Football Conference (NFC) South.
On the other hand, Cowboys have won three and lost five games. After their bye week they have only won one out of four games. They are ranked 3rd in NFC East.
