Atlanta Hawks 112–109 win home to Memphis Grizzlies
The sizzling Mike Bibby had 15 points; hit three 3-pointers in the last 5 minutes as Atlanta Hawks held off Memphis Grizzlies at Philips Arena 112-109.
High-Flying Players:
Six Hawks' players scored in double figures including the team-high 20 points, six rebounds and six assists from Al Horford. Josh Powell followed him with a season-high 16 points off the bench. Jamal Crawford also had 16 points and grasped 8 assists while
Marvin Williams tallied 15 points for the visitors.
Rudy g*y did all he could, leading Memphis with 23 points including a 3-pointer and another basket in the final 10 seconds. Mike Conley contributed 22 points and nine assists while Zach Randolph added 19 points and 19 boards in defeat.
First Quarter:
Memphis limited the Hawks to 27 points in the first quarter that was led by Gasol and g*y with 7 points each.
The biggest lead of the quarter was 7 points with 03:28 to go. Memphis led at the end of first quarter with 2 points while the score being 29–27.
Second Quarter:
In the second quarter, Atlanta got it going offensively and build up a 6-point lead at the half, scoring further 36 points.
Grizzlies led 44-43 before Powell began a hot streak where he scored 10 points in the final 4:41 of the second period to give Atlanta a 63-57 halftime lead.
Third Quarter:
Hawks continued to up their lead, eventually capping out at 23 points and thus stretching their match lead to 86-76 at the end of third quarter.
Williams led Hawks with 5 points while Smith charged with four turnovers.
Fourth Quarter:
Memphis fought back and cut Atlanta's lead to 106-102 on a pair of free throws from Zach Randolph but Bibby took them down by nailing a three-pointer to re-establish his side's seven-point lead.
Grizzlies again cut down the lead to as little as two on Rudy g*y's bucket with 2.9 seconds remaining but Crawford split a few free throws to give Atlanta the match victory.
Game's Lucky Numbers:
The fantastic Hawks recorded a season-best 33 assists on 42 field goals, hit 21-of-26 in this game, and sported six players in double figures to trounce the Grizzlies.
It was Hawks’ fourth win in a row as their game has improved to 5-5 at home this season.
