Atlanta Thrashers defeat the New York Islanders 2-1 Islanders - NHL Recap

The second game of Thursday was played at the Nassau Coliseum, as the Atlanta Thrashers beat the New York Islanders 2-1. The game saw the Islanders out of the National Hockey League play-off picture, while the Thrashers are still in contention of making
it into the cut.
The Thrashers made a strong start to the game and they managed to score in the middle part of the period to get into the lead. There were a few more shots on goal by both teams, but no further goals were scored. The second period saw the Islanders scoring
early, but the Thrashers managed to score once again and get back into the lead. The period ended with the Thrashers leading 2-1. The final period did not see much despite some strong shots on goal by both teams.
The Islanders was the team that came up with the early shots on goal, but after some time it was the Thrashers who dominated the game. Eventually the Thrashers found a way past the opposing defence and scored through Andrew Ladd from a brilliant flick-shot
to get into lead in the 8th minute.
The period saw the Thrashers continuing to fire shots on goal, but they failed to find the back of the net. The period ended with the Thrashers leading 1-0. During the period, the Islanders made three shots on goal while the Thrashers managed 12 attempts.
The second period saw the Islanders coming up with some strong offence early on that resulted in them levelling the score in the second minute. The goal was scored by John Tavares from a well placed flick-shot.
The Thrashers also showed their productivity, as they scored in the 14th minute through Rob Schremp from a quick fired shot to get back into the lead. The period saw the Thrashers coming up with some strong offensive display, but they were unable

The period ended with the Thrashers leading 2-1 at the end of the period, as they made 16 shots on goal while the Islanders made just four attempts.
The final 20 minutes of play was dry in terms on shots on goal for the Thrashers, as their defence continued with the strong performance restricting the opposition to just 8 shots on goal.
The period did not see any goals and the game ended with the Thrashers winning the game 2-1 in the end. The win was important for the Thrashers, as they are in the final play-off spot and will be looking to notch up more points to keep the position till
the end of the regular season.
