Atlanta Thrashers play host to the Florida Panthersin the Southeast Division duel
One of the important games when it comes to making it into the play-off cut will be hosted by the Atlanta Thrashers as they are up against the Florida Panthers at the Philips Arena.
The Southeast Division rivals will meet each other for the fifth time during the season.
The previous four meetings between the two sides have seen the Panthers winning the second game 2-1 while Thrashers won the first game 4-3 and the last two games both 3-2.
Thrashers are desperate for some success as they have won only six out of their last 26 games.
Once they were comfortably placed in the play-off cut but now they are five points out of the final play-off position.
Panthers, on the other hand, are eight points behind the final play-off position and it looks some more players will be leaving their roster to make things more difficult.
The Panthers will be very disappointed as their play-off hopes have been greatly hurt by their last 5-1 loss to the bottom place Ottawa Senators. The win was very important for the Senators it broke their 10 games home losing streak.
"We just didn't have enough in the offensive end tonight," Chris Higgins said. "We let them skate out of the zone a little bit too easy and didn't put enough pressure on their goalie. It seems like we had one shot and they were out of the zone."
The Panthers have played 60 games during the course of the season so far out which they have won 25 games in regulation time. They have secured a point in seven games and lie in the 12th position in the Eastern Conference with 57 points. The Thrashers
on the other hand have played 61 game during the season out of which they have won 25 games in regulation time, secured at least a point in ten games scoring a total of 60 points.
The last 13 games of the Thrashers have no way neared the performances they came up with during the early part of the season. They have won just two games in regulation and scored a point in the eight games losing three.
Coach of the Atlanta Thrashers was very angry at the team’s performance last time out when the Thrashers lost the game against the Sabres 4-1 this past Tuesday. The game was very tough with the Thrashers completely dominating the game on several occasions
but still they scored only once during the course of the game.
"Forty shots on the road, and we found a way to lose," Craig Ramsay said. "We have five home games coming up. We need five wins."
Both the teams will be looking for a win which will make the game all the more exciting and entertain as they battle hard to make it into the play-offs.
