Atlanta Thrashers plays host to the New Jersey Devils in the third of their four meetings this season 
The Atlanta Thrashers will be hosted the New Jersey Devils this Friday at the Philips Arena.
This will be the third out of the four scheduled meetings between the two sides.
Out of the two games that have already taken place during the season between the two sides, the Thrashers won the first game 7-1 while the Devils won the last meeting 3-1.
Devils have been in superb form as they have been winning quite a few games while Thrashers have been struggling.
Devils have been outstanding in the last few games as they continue their surge into the top of the table.
Thrashers, on the other hand, are looking to get out of the recent slump that they are facing. However, Thrashers have the gap, three points less than the Devils to the final play-off spot, in the Eastern Conference.
Though on paper it would seem that Thrashers are the one who have the upper hand but the Devils are playing some of their best hockey and they have a great chance to win the game.
The Devils have very little margin for error as they need to come up with two points each time the go on ice. Though it would seem impossible, but the Devils have to make it possible.
The Devils in their last game to the Senators came up with some decent play but unfortunately lost the game 2-1 in the end.
The Senators were leading at the end of the second period and the Devils scored to level the scored but they couldn’t manage to keep the Senators away from scoring. In the end, the Senators scored to win the game 2-1.
"It could be a costly loss, but we have to get back to the next one," forward Brian Rolston said. "I don't think we're out of it yet."
The Devils have played 66 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 30 games in regulation time, four games in overtime to score 64 points.
Thrashers have played 67 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 28 games in regulation time, 11 games in overtime to score a total of 67 points.
Thrashers were one of the fierce teams at the start of the season but their form gradually dropped and now they are fighting to make their way into the play-off cut.
However, their last three wins have all come in overtime with the most recent coming against the Hurricanes where they won 3-2.
"We finally did it," goalie Ondrej Pavelec said about snapping a four-game losing streak to Carolina. "It didn't mean we didn't play well against them -- we played really well against them, but we couldn't find a way to win. Finally, we did it tonight, and
it's a big win for us."
