Atlantic City Race Course ???

Does anyone know if this is the last year for Atlantic City Race Course to have live racing ?

They have a 4 or 5-day all turf meet this year.  Philadelphia Park owns Atlantic City and they are trying to get a 20 to 30 day meet, because of the slots at Philly Park, phone wagering in NJ and the off-track facilities going into place in NJ as well.  If the track does survive this year, I hope that they reconstruct the lights and make it a night meet again.  It just doesn't seem right to see ACRC races during the day.

There was talk more than a year ago that the track may close, but that isn't the case now.

Actually there are plans to expand racing at the facility, with the construction of a new grandstand and other improvements. It has such a rich tradition that it would be a shame to see it go and the state legislature is finally working with horsemen and track owners to make the future of racing there a reality.
