Atlantic Coast Conference week six: preview
The sixth week of play in the Atlantic Coast Conference is certain to be another round of exciting football. Most ACC competitors are engaged in important conference games this week, but none more important
than the fierce rivalry game between Florida State and Miami (FL).
Boston College @ North Carolina State
Boston College is coming off their second straight loss and once again had difficulty on the offensive end. Unfortunately for the Eagles it will not get much easier next week as starting quarterback Chase
Rettig is doubtful, due to an ankle injury.
North Carolina State lost their first game of the season against a resurging Virginia Tech side last week. The Wolf Pack will be eager to get back on track in an important conference game.
Central Michigan @ Virginia Tech
Central Michigan has struggled this season, currently sitting at 2-3. The Chippewas will have a great deal of trouble against a Virginia Tech side that looks to have finally gotten their game on track.
The Hokies started the season by losing their first two match-ups against Boise State and James Madison. Since that time they have defeated East Carolina, Boston College and then-no. 23 North Carolina
State. If Virginia Tech is able to keep their play on track they could force their way back into the AP Top 25.
Virginia @ Georgia Tech
Virginia sits at 2-2 and 0-1 against conference opponents. However, the only wins they have been able to register this season were against Richmond and Virginia Military Institute. Needless-to-say, Georgia
Tech will present a much more difficult opponent come Saturday.
Georgia Tech has struggled with consistency this season. Nevertheless, they were able to tally an important conference win over Wake Forest last week and should be able to notch another against a less
skilled Virginia side.
Clemson @ North Carolina
Clemson has lost two straight games, but they were against difficult opponents in Auburn and Miami (FL). The Tigers will be keen to get back on track against a thin North Carolina side.
It is difficult to tell how strong North Carolina will be on a week-to-week basis, due to the ongoing NCAA investigation. The Tar Heels are still missing 11 players from their line-up and will once again
be in tough this weekend.
Navy @ Wake Forest
Navy is coming off a tough loss to Air Force and currently sit at 2-2. The Midshipmen have been strong on the ground, but their defensive game has failed them time and again this season.
Wake Forest started off the season with two big wins, only to fall in three straight meetings. The Demon Deacons are going to need to steal a win at home against Navy before they head out to play Virginia
Tech in week seven.
no.23 Florida State @ no.13 Miami (FL)
Since their loss in week two Florida State has been battling to get back into the AP Top 25. They were finally able to achieve their goal with a win over Virginia last week. Nevertheless, the Seminoles
could once again be bounced, heading up against a skilled team in Miami (FL)
After suffering a loss to #2 Ohio State in week two the Hurricanes have vastly improved their defensive game. The ‘Canes should be able to sneak past their rivals over the weekend, which would go a long
way in helping them in the rankings.
