Atlantic Sport favourite for 32Red Bunbury Cup (Handicap)
Atlantic Sport is expected to prevail in the 32Red Bunbury Cup (Handicap) at Newmarket in England on Saturday, July 14, 2012. He will have to outperform 19 other runners in order to win a cash prize of £31,125 in the class-2 event.
The going will be soft in the 7 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 14:40 GMT. The overnight rain will definitely be a concern for a few runners and it would be better for them not to take part in the race.
However, some of the participants will definitely enjoy such track conditions and they have got a great chance of fighting at the front today. One of those runners will be Atlantic Sport, who is a seasoned campaigner and knows how to handle pressure. He
has been priced 12 to 1 by the bookmakers and it will be a good idea to risk some bets on him.
The seven-year-old horse first came onto the scene in July 2007 and was impressive right from the start of his career. He was given a starting price of 5 to 2 back then and enjoyed the good to soft conditions, which helped him succeed in his first ever outing.
Although he only managed to win by a short head distance, yet this performance would have given him immense confidence.
The Mick Channon’s trainee took part in one more race that year, but was unable to make a big impression in it. Despite that, he started off the next season strongly, winning his first race by half a length. He finished that season on a high, prevailing
in his last outing of that year.
However, things did not go well for the seasoned runner afterwards, as he went on without a victory for three consecutive seasons. This was extremely disappointing for his fans, but he has shown signs of improvement this year.
Atlantic Sport has participated in three events this year and managed to win the most recent one, ending the three year long drought. He has priced 4 to 1 back then and outperformed his opponents in the end. The conditions were ideal for him and he is likely
to repeat a similar show at Newmarket under Martin Harley.
