Enrique Cerezo and his team have been monitoring the Colombian forward following the departure of Sergio Aguero to Manchester City. After weeks of pursuing the Porto star, Los Rojiblancos can now see light at the end of the tunnel, as Falcao has claimed
that he could move to Vicente Calderon in order to further his career.
The 25-year-old attacker has long been eyed by the Spanish outfit despite his €45 million price tag and now has alerted the suitors by saying that he could favour a move to a club where he could compete against the cream of Europe week-in, week-out.
“Every player aspires to play in the major leagues, like the Spanish, Italian or English ones. If they say any different they are lying. Atletico Madrid have great supporters and it would be a great opportunity for my career,” Falcao was quoted as saying.
With the above comments indicating that the striker could be open to Atletico’s advances, club president Enrico Cerezo further backed his team to land their man and said that all good players wanted to play for the Mattress-Makers.
"Atletico Madrid are interest in all the good players and I also believe that all the good players want to play at this club.” The president beamed.
Although a switch could be imminent, Cerezo was keen to divert attention off the Falcao saga and said that with the transfer window still open anything could happen.
“But right now there is nothing concrete about Falcao. Of course it is good to say that he would like to play here.
By the end of the market still long to hire who we want, so we have turned attention to the games with the V. Guimarães,” The Colchoneros man concluded.
Now that both the parties have confirmed interest in the move, it is only a matter of time when we see Radamel Falcao don the iconic Atletico Madrid colours.
