Atletico Madrid coach Gregorio Manzano plays down row with Jose Antonio Reyes – La Liga News
Atletico Madrid manager, Gregorio Manzano, has played down reports stating that there is a rift between him and winger, Jose Antonio Reyes.
The coach wants to put an end to the controversies between him and the player. He commented that there are no problems at the club, and everything is normal.
Reyes was clearly disappointed at being substituted in the 3-0 defeat at the hands of Athletic Bilbao, and television footage showed that he was swearing at the manager on the sidelines.
Following this incident, he was taken out of the starting eleven against Real Zaragoza. Reyes had to watch from the stands as Los Rojiblancos ended a dreadful October with a much deserved win.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 man will not feature against Udinese after being left out of the Europe League squad. In the light of these recent developments, rumours have started to circulate that problems are brewing between the manager and Reyes in the dressing
room.
Manzano looks to be angry at him for his outburst and the Spanish international has been removed from the squad as a result.
However, the former Sevilla coach has rejected the notions of disharmony in the dugout as he talked to reporters in build-up to the European fixture.
"There is no Reyes case, there is no problem with any of the players who have not played the last matches," Manzano commented.
It was also reported that the winger will not travel with the squad due to flu. Reyes was not feeling well and did not practice with his teammates. As a result the manager decided to leave him out of the roster.
Atletico will play Udinese on Thursday, November 03. The Italian team will be without the services of the star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306 for this fixture and Manzano has downplayed his absence.
"The fact that their top scorer is not coming is one less worry, but in the Europa League he has not been scoring much," Manzano noted.
He praised his opposing team and highlighted the strength of their team: "Udinese are strong with or without him."
Atletico Madrid lost 2-0 against Udinese in their last Europa League encounter, and will be looking to avoid a repeat of their performances. Los Rojiblancos enjoyed majority of the possession but could not do anything with their superiority.
