Atletico Madrid offer their goal-keeper David de Gea a new deal - La Liga updates
La Liga outfit, Atletico Madrid have offered their goal-keeper, David de Gea a new contract deal with an aim to prolong his stay at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Calderon, Spain.
English Premier League club, Manchester United will be most affected with this update, as they were planning to acquire him as a replacement for Edwin Van der Sar, in the upcoming summer transfer season.
United’s veteran goal-keeper, Van der Sar has already announced that he will retire at the end of this season.
Atletico Madrid’s Club President, Enrique Cerezo has confirmed news of the new deal and said, “De Gea is a magnificent player in the squad and has two years left on his contract. We [have] made a renewal offer. But it does not depend on us. We will speak
to him at the end of term and see what happens.”
There were speculations that an agreement has been reached between Atletico and United over De Gea's transfer, but ‘The Red and Whites’ now offering their goal-keeper a new improved deal, would bring calmness in the United ranks.
The Spanish Primera Liga side was reportedly agreed upon a £22million take-over clause with Manchester United.
The Spanish goalkeeper, De Gea missed out on the last FIFA World Cup 2010, after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815 as their number one choice goal-keeper. Critics claim that Gea will replace Casillas, as Spain’s number one in near future.
According to Spanish media reports, the 20-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463 has a contract in hand until 2013, but the club management wants him to extend his stay with them until 2016. The other two players who are likely to commit their long-term future with the
club are Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero.
The 22-year-old striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero has been linked with a move to Spanish giants, Real Madrid. Reports suggest that Aguero’s contract does not allow him to make a move to Santiago Bernabeu, the home backyard of Real Madrid.
On the other hand, Cerezo, while denying about any such clause being present in Aguero’s contract said, “Aguero has no anti-[Real] Madrid clause. It would be meaningless because players can play where they want. Aguero is not going to go and if ever he did,
it would not be to any other club in Spain.”
On the issue of Diego Forlan, the Spanish club's President said, “He is a very important player for the club. The directors are delighted with him [Forlan] for one primary reason: no player in the world has two Golden Boots.”
Manchester United will have to start their search of finding a high-quality goal-keeper again, as their other lined-up Schalke goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424, has already confirmed that he will join Bayern Munich in the summers.
