Diego Forlan, the 32-year-old Atletico Madrid striker, revealed he felt his former team-mate Sergio Aguero had made the wrong decision in choosing Manchester City over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 international transferred to City for an estimated
fee of £38 million, snubbing English Premier League giants Chelsea in the process.
While City are undoubtedly providing him with better wages, Forlan feels the striker would have been better off with the Blues. Having played at Atletico Madrid with Aguero for four years, Forlan is well acquainted with the young striker’s playing style
and said he was certain the Argentine forward would have done much better at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have known to be keeping an eye on the Argentinean striker for a while now and came very close to landing him, but at the last moment lost him to big-spending Manchester City. The Uruguayan forward revealed he was not surprised by his former team-mates
decision, but had hoped he would have chosen the London side.
Forlan said while speaking to reporters:
“It was no real surprise to see him leave, but I thought it would have been to a different club.
Chelsea's game and squad are more suited to his style.”
According to Forlan, Chelsea were better suited to Aguero’s playing style. However, he admitted the highly rated striker had the ability to succeed at any club and would be able to do so at the Eastlands. Forlan felt the key to Aguero’s success at Manchester
City was his ability to adjust to the English game, the rest was easy.
Forlan reflected on his striking partner’s ability to find the back of the net and how it would help him at the English Premier League side. In 234 appearances for Atletico Madrid in all competitions, Aguero has gone on to score an impressive 101 goals and
provide 37 assists, an impressive figure for a striker as young as him.
He continued:
“The key for him will be how he adapts to the style of the game and also the country.
He can be a success because he is a star... he can be a king at any club.
The best asset of Aguero is the number of goals he scores, and when he scores them. He is a killer and could also destroy many defenders with his dribbles.”
Having previously played for Manchester City rivals Manchester United from 2001 to 2004, Forlan admitted it was painful to see Aguero transfer to City. Apart from that the 32-year-old forward revealed he was sad to see his teammate leave, with whom he had
struck up one of the most successful striking partnerships in recent times.
Forlan said:
“Personally, it is bad news to me because I will now miss a big companion in attack at Atletico.”
