Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero wants to leave the club - La Liga news
Atletico Madrid striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero, has stated his desire to leave the club and play his professional football elsewhere, despite the 22-year-old signing a contract extension in January, 2011.
Many top clubs are in pursuit of the talented forward. Notably, Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Real Madrid are looking to add the player in their ranks.
Italian team Juventus are the only club who have made an official bid so far for Aguero. The Turin club are willing to pay 27 million pounds for the striker. However, with Juve not participating in any European competition, the player joining the ‘Old Lady’
seems unlikely.
The Argentinean has spent five years at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincente-c36196 Calderon scoring 101 goals in 234 appearances in all competitions, but insists that the time has come to travel to another club. The striker released a statement on his personal website.
He said, "I have made my decision and the club should respect that. They knew that I was going to release a statement on my official website to announce my desire to leave. I think that I have said everything that I needed to say.”
Meanwhile, Atletico are trying hard to hold on to their prized asset and have a 40 million pound buy-out clause. Club President, Enrique Cerezo, claims that if Aguero leaves the club, the management will try to make sure the player does not sign for bitter
rivals Real Madrid.
He said, "There are many teams apart from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid. It would be an act of aggression if Madrid paid the £40million get-out clause but, if another team comes and pays, it would not be an act of aggression. And we would put a clause to whoever buys him
that they could not sell him to Real."
Furthermore, Aguero maintains that he notified the club when he signed the contract extension that he will pursue other ventures when he felt the time was right. The player has a desire to play in UEFA Champions League on regular basis, which is not being fulfilled
with him being an Atletico player.
A big money move out of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Calderon seems likely for Aguero in the upcoming 2011 summer transfer window.
