Atletico Madrid vs. Real Zaragoza – Spanish Primera Division – Full Time Report – (Part 2)
The match kicked off again as Real Zaragoza started to play long balls for their strikers but the Atletico Madrid defences were way too strong for Zaragoza's strikers. During the 25th minute of the game, Real Zaragoza
decided to change their goalkeeper as Franco left the field and Antonio Doblas took his place on the field.
On the other hand, Atletico Madrid kept on trying on goal and the home side kept on taking advantage of their ground. Diego Forlan was still silent during the match but it was the 28th minute that saw Forlan's first
"fabulous" try on goal as he took a long shot which was taken inch perfect but the newly introduced goalkeeper managed to save it and the lead was not doubled by the home team.
During the 36th minute Luis Amaranto Perea challenged Angel Lafita and the tackle was not very well timed and Perea was shown a yellow card that marked the second booking of the game.
There was not much action after the 36th minute; however, Maurizio Lanzaro was shown a yellow card right before the end of the first half. He was shown a "warning" because of the "misbehaviour." He managed to abuse
the referee who in return showed him a yellow card and warned him of not making the same mistake again.
The first half ended with Atletico Madrid winning the match 1-0. It was Diego Costa's goal that helped them move ahead and the home side were at a goal's advantage and they were also having the "mental" advantage while playing on the home
field.
Florent Sinama Pongolle was added to the team for La Cruz Kevin as the visitors decided to make a change after the "disappointing" first half. The home team were leading in terms of possession and shots on goal throughout the first half.
It was Atletico Madrid's attack that was troubling Zaragoza's defence throughout the game; however, things changed during the second half.
Real Zaragoza started to show their "aggressive" side and started to make runs from the right flanks but nothing could be created as the Madrid side were very strong in the air. After the 50th minute, the game started
to become more "unhealthy" and the atmosphere totally changed in Madrid when both the teams decided to play it rough.
During the 54th minute, Herrera Ander fouled Assuncao and Herrera managed to find his name in the booking's list after the referee decided to show him the yellow card for the tackle that he made on Assuncao. Right
after 3 minutes, Alvrao Dominguez was booked for a yellow card after he showed "unsporting behaviour" and both the teams were trying to score goals for themselves.
The moment of the second half actually came during the 60thminute when Reyes managed to slide in on Contini and found himself going out of the field after receiving a red card. The card caused "chaos" on the field as all the
players came on to pick a fight with the referee about the "wrong" decision that he took. However, the challenge was very dangerous and the decision by the referee was absolutely correct.
After getting a red card, the home side were a man down and the visitors started to take advantage of the "one extra man" that they had. It was all Real Zaragoza throughout the second half while the Atletico Madrid coach decided to change
Tiago with the defensive midfielder Mario Suarez.
Bertolo came on for Lanzaro during the 64th minute and it was seen that Real Zaragoza really wanted to go for that goal that they were trying to get. However, Madrid's defence was strong even though they were a
man down. Atletico Madrid were just seen defending after the 66th minute and no man even tried to counter attack besides Diego Forlan who featured as a "soul striker."
However, Sergio Aguero was introduced during the 75th minute of the game just to add "pace" to the counter attacking football that the home side was trying to play. After Aguero's addition, it was seen that even
though Atletico Madrid were a man down, they were still trying to score more goals and it was Aguero who kept on trying on goal so that the other team can come under pressure after the "second."
Diego Costa was taken off while Juan Valera came on for the Madrid side. It was simply clear that they just wanted to hold on to the one goal lead that they had as another defensive midfielder was introduced for the goal scorer of the
game. Costa was applauded out of the field as he was the only goal scorer of the game.
The match was simply far from over as Juan Valera managed to get a yellow card during the dying moments of the game. Atletico Madrid were leading the game and it was just "too hard" for the visitors to cross the 10 sided defensive line-up
of the Madrid side.
The match ended with Sergio Aguero taking the last shot of the game. Even though the shot went outside of the target, the hands were raised by the Argentineans as a "tough" game ended as a victory for the home team, Atletico Madrid.
