Atletico Madrid have confirmed they are not looking to sell star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 despite interest from the likes of English Premier League giants Chelsea.
After a highly successful spell with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 from 2009 to 2011, Falcao has been linked with the top sides in Europe. However, he chose to join Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 for a record breaking fee of 47 million Euros.
That has in no way stopped the other clubs from showing interest in the Colombian international and the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and Real Madrid, who are following the striker’s progress.
According to sporting director Jose Luis Caminero the club are not looking to hold talks regarding the possible move for Falcao in the near future. He revealed that Atletico Madrid were keen on retaining the services of one of their best players.
Caminero said while speaking to reporters:
“The club has very clear ideas on this. Falcao will remain at Atletico Madrid and any talk of an exit is misplaced.
The striker will remain with us next season and we are not considering any other possibility.”
While he was at FC Porto, Falcao went on to score an astonishing 72 goals in 85 appearances in all competitions over two seasons. After he transferred to Atletico Madrid, he made 50 appearances in all competitions and found the back of the net 36 times.
With the departure of Chelsea star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707, Romelu Lukaku and Daniel Sturridge.
While Torres is expected to take centre stage at Stamford Bridge, he will need support in the form of a second striker since http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romelu-Lukaku-c31672 are both young and relatively inexperienced. This leads the Blues on the hunt for a key striker who is not shy of scoring goals.
Along with Falcao, Chelsea have been linked with his former teammate at FC Porto, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436. However, according to the player’s agent, the Blues have yet to make an official offer for him.
