Atletico Madrid general manager, Angel http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gil-c14870 Marin, took out time to reflect on the subject and did not shy away from revealing his true feelings on the subject. The much-maligned executive does not appreciate how the league is being run and voiced his discontent
about it.
Gil Marin accused La Liga president and his second in command as the culprits behind the whole fiasco, claiming that the duo have allowed an environment of confrontation to develop in Spanish top flight sporting circles.
He stated that Spanish football is in danger as top tier clubs have their future up in the air. The Atletico administrator was pointing towards the television revenues scandal which has seen Mediapro taking Primera Division clubs to court over TV rights
debacle.
Gil Marin could not understand the reasoning behind the current revenue model, voicing his belief that La Liga clubs should have a greater share of the pie chart that is being eaten up by Barcelona, Real Madrid and Segunda Division clubs.
"The president and vice-president of La Liga have provoked and allowed an atmosphere of confrontation to fester, which has put us in an uncertain and precarious situation, putting the future of the clubs and Spanish football in general in danger," Gil Marin
told Atletico Madrid’s official website.
"In the last two months they have allowed one of the two television operators to take half the clubs in the league to court, making it impossible for the clubs to reach an agreement."
"The majority of the clubs in the Primera Division do not agree with the current model. Decisions are made by the league's assembly, and it's not fair that the Primera Division,” Angel Gil Marin said while venting his frustrations.
