The Spanish club, Atletico Madrid’s Chief has revealed that the English Premier League side Manchester United and Chelsea are in a race to sign the goal-keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463, for the next 2011-12 season. The club officials look keen to retain the youngster
but David could make a move out of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 come the summer transfer window.
The chief further mentioned that Manchester United’s manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has shown great interest in the signing of 20-year-old. The Red Devil’s current goal-keeper, Edwin van der Sar, is set to retire at the end of this season and United would be
hoping to bring the Spaniard at Old Trafford.
Some reports suggested that David’s agent Jorge Mendes met the United’s officials and the Red Devils do not wish to prepare a bid in excess of GBP17.8 million, even though the player’s buy-out clause is GBP22.25 million.

Chelsea [for De Gea]. He also has an offer from us to renew his deal. We’d like him to stay here, but David’s future is entirely in his own hands.”
De Gea’s father has confirmed that his son hasn’t signed any deal with United and would do it in an official manner once he decides about his future.
David is currently the Atletico’s first choice keeper and was part of the UEFA Europa League’s winning team in 2009-10season. He has made a total of 74 appearances for the club so far since joining in 2009. He also has 22 clean sheets under his belt.
