Atmospheric Methane concentrations back on the rise - why?

Question

after 8 years or so of reasonably steady levels, atmospheric methane has risen again sharply in 2007 according to NOAA measurements.

is this the first sign of releases from the melting permafrost in the north american and siberian tundra?
