What do you think the Large Hadron Collider will reveal?...

How successful do you think this experiment will be?

  1. its a particle smasher, not an atom smasher.

the particles will consist of protons and/or heavy ions

there are 6 experiments.... in total.

its already a success. everything seems to be working as expected.

I'm interested in seeing if we can create particles predicted by string theory, not the boring higgs

even if we test certain ideas, and the results show us we are incorrect.... it will still be a success. the information we receive will give as clearer direction for the future.

black holes destroying the earth? no. this idea is fantasy.

  2. well its 7 times more powerful than the next largest collider, which claims it was on the brink of discovering the higgs boson several times but couldnt quite reach the required energy levels.

as for revealing dark matter, dark energy, other dimensions, etc; im very doubtful. producing large energies couldnt reveal new dimensions, the properties of space-time arent effected by energy.

but i have faith it will discover the higgs boson, which would be a huge discovery. i also think it could finally verify a theory of the unification of forces. electromagnetism and the weak nuclear force unify at extremely high energies to make the electroweak force, hopefully the electroweak force will unify with the strong nuclear force at even high energies to make a single unified force (electronuclear force?)

  3. it might open up new dimensions.

    physicist

  4. I fear that it will lead to more powerful nuclear weapons for future use my friends. besides the world is due for a new bomb

  5. provided the data is pure and not tampered with....this is MASSIVE for cosmologist -  it is as big as the LHC itself!

  6. Many more sub-atomic particles.

Apparently the energy produced by atom smashers create them in profusion for microseconds.

  7. The LHC is supposed to test for the existence of extra dimensions as well as hopefully detect some new particles.
