  1. atomic decay takes place by 3 process :

    alpha decay

    beta decay

    gamma decay

in alpha decay , a  helium neucli is ejected of the neucles hence the atomic wt of daughter element is 4 less and atomic no is 2 less than the parent element

in beta decay , a fast energy electron is given of the atomic wt remains unchanged while atomic number increases by 1

in gamma decay , a very short wavelength electromagnetic radiation is given off , this decay does not change the element but only stabalises it after alpha or beta decay ..........
