Is there a way that I can restrict or slow the internet speed on some computers connecting to the same router ?

  1. You can do it by installing third party softwares in the corresponding machines. I use iNet protector and it works well.


  2. One way to address this is by using managed network switches.  These are fairly costly and each port has to be programmed for priority level.

    Expect to pay over $1000 for a 24 port managed switch; unmanaged 24 port 10 / 100 switches sell for under $200 so you need to think long and hard about the merit of this.  

  3. Depends on the software on your router.  On my Linksys, there is a way to block users.  Otherwise, you'd have to play with the QoS settings.  That may not give you exactly what you want, but I think that's as close as you can get on a home router.

  4. That is called Speed Throttling, if the router supports it tweak it all you want; but home routers usually don't have it.
