att. all computer experts please help me! thanks?

** I know this is kinda long but PLEASE HELP***

I bought Windows Vista Ultimate sp1 UPGRADE on ebay about 2 weeks ago.

It is is in a brand new package, the case it originally came with.. genuine cds and there not ONE sign of anything PIRATED about it at all. It activates and all that.

Now, me and my mother have had a few issues where immediatley upon installing this software we get a virus or really bad issues like freexing screens and all that.

Our computers are top notch and are ready for vista ultimate. Ive never had this problem with any vista version.

~~~~~~~MY QUESTION~~~~~~~~~~`
is it possible something is wrong with the version on this disc? even though its genuine and all that is it possible it could be tampered with from the seller?
Thank you so very much. I will rate the answers.
  1. I don't believe its the disk, you may have done something wrong when installing it, although im not sure, contact the windows manufacturer to make sure its genuine and ask for support
  2. You have to be very careful when buying anything from ebay as some people are not honest  and will sell you anything . It is possible that the software has been tampered with since you have not had any other problems with window vista before. Since you have already install it on your computer you need to run a Full System Scan with your antivirus program and if any computer virus is there your antivirus program will detected it and get rid of the virus ok When a window start freezing up or crashing then most likely it is a virus or even malware. Like I said before (Run your antivirus program)  and I am going to give you a link to click on to install a very good spyware program. (http://www.superantispyware.com)  This spyware program is good at detecting, protecting, and getting rid of ( spyware, malware, adware, trojan horses, and some computer worms)   So after you finish scanning with your antivirus program run a scan using this spyware program also (just to be on the safe side ok. )   After running both of these program scanners you will or should know if anything was wrong with the software. Good Luck
  3. Well, check the bottom of the CD to see if its Scratched or anything. Get an Anti Virus and scan for viruses. And Vista kind of sucks anyway so you should expect it to freeze everyonce in a while.
  4. I suppose it's possible that your copy of Vista is defective in some way, but it's not the likely. Unless the disk itself is damaged, then there is no reason to believe that the disk you have is the cause, especially if it's installing fine.
    One thing to try if you're not protected by a router is to unplug your computer from the internet by removing the ethernet cable during the installation and setup of Windows. That way no one can hack and probe your computer. Leaving your computer exposed to the internet without any firewalls can result in getting viruses very quickly.
    To be honest, I wouldn't have bought the upgrade version. It just doesn't seem to me like you get as good of an install of Vista when you already have an OS installed, unless Vista just deletes the partition.
    But I would try to unplug the computer then try it.
  5. I think it would be easier to produce a genuine-looking fake CD than tampering with an original.
  6. what type of things are exactly happening?
    and what do you mean by virus?
    and, im not going against your word, but it is possible your computer isnt capable of that
  7. yes it is possible or you could be installing it improperly just because it looks good doesn't mean it legit try to go to Msn.com and get it verified if it passes get a pro to install it next time get it from Msn.
