Question:

Attach vellum to cardstock

I've tried using vellum adhesive, but it's still visible through the vellum, showing the texture of the cardstock. Is there a method to fixing it so it doesn't show through at all?

  1. For our wedding invitations, I used a rectangle (ribbon) shaped punch through the vellum and the cardstock and the tied together with a ribbon that matched our wedding colors.

A new vellum adhesive by 3-M is an excellent way to adhere vellum. Available in rolls like tape, this adhesive is made of tiny air bubbles. You simply rub this adhesive onto the surface to which you are attaching the vellum by using the edge of a bone folder or plastic ruler. The results are virtually invisible. A glue stick applied sparingly will work pretty well with vellum attached to light-colored paper. It is best to apply the adhesive to the paper or cardstock you're layering rather than the vellum itself.

  3. Other ways to attach vellum  to cardstock is by stapling it, using brads, or eyelets.  I know a lot of glues show up, but there are some on the market now that are claiming they don't.  The one by glue dots is a vellum adhesive and they do NOT show through.  Glue dots are awesome and they are clear little dots.  You can get them at Michael's and AC Moore craft stores.  Also local scrapbook stores sell them too, they are with the other glues and adhesives, usually not with the other scrapbooking supplies.  I've seen them away from there, with the other glues.

Otherwise, you can staple it, use brads, and eyelets, which are the metal way to go, I'm not sure if that's a route you want to go, but that's another way that people attach vellum to cardstock.

    I hope this helps!
