Question:

Attaching velcro squares to leather?

by  |  earlier

I need to find some way to hold down an outside flap on a handbag. Seems that velcro squares will be best. Any suggestions on the best glue to use? The flap is used a lot and so the glue that holds the velcro needs to be strong so as not to pull off the squares. Thanks.

  1. Rubber cement wont hold it.

You need to use barge cement or equivalent. Go to your local craft store and look at the glues. Look for Goop. it is a great product. Not quite as strong as barge, but it will work.

  2. You can use rubber cement or Tanners Bond Craftsman contact cement. You can order the contact cement through Tandy Leather Factory 800-926-2061
