Atte Limatanien wins Men’s 100m back-stroke title: Day two – 2011 Australian University Games
Macquarie University’s athlete, Atte Limatanien produced a thrilling swim on day two of the 2011 Australian University Games in Gold Coast, Australia, on Wednesday, September 28. The Australian University Games is a popular swimming event, which is organised
by Swimming Australia every year. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 100m back-stroke final race.
In the corresponding event, Limatanien powered the finishing wall in 58.72 seconds to win the golden crown on the podium. Andrew Gillespie of Queensland University of Technology took home silver title of the platform by submitting a mark of 59.04 seconds,
while Thomas Moreton of Monash University earned bronze medal on the podium by submitting a time of 1 minute and 00.64 seconds.
Meanwhile, Mark O’Donnell earned fourth place honours with an exciting time of 1 minute and 02.59 seconds and Thomas Clarke of University of Tasmania settled fifth spot in the respective meet with a finishing time of 1 minute and 04.39 seconds.
Furthermore, Donald Cameron of Macquarie University finished sixth with a time of 1 minute and 05.02 seconds and Raymond Mak of University of Melbourne earned seventh position in a time of 1 minute and 05.38 seconds. Finally, Andrew Cameron of University
of Melbourne was placed eighth in a time of 1 minute and 12.73 seconds.
Earlier, Marieke Guehrer took home the Women’s 100m back-stroke crown on the podium by posting a winning time of 1 minute and 04.81 seconds. In the corresponding race, Grace Loh of University of Melbourne secured silver crown by submitting a unique time
of 1 minute and 05.06 seconds and Karina Leane of Flinders University settled for bronze in the respective meet after she touched the finishing wall and ended her swim in a time of 1 minute and 05.75 seconds.
The winning contestants received medals and accolades for their performances after the session’s completion. This championship is an exciting opportunity for young athletes of Australia to prepare themselves hard for their forthcoming events. The event is
