Attending a job interview?

i have been invited to attend an interview with the nhs,there are two parts, the second part entails participating in group exercise,has anybody attended an interview like this? if so could you please explain what it entails.

  1. Sounds like you have to do role plays in the second part, where you are given a particular situation and you and another member of the group, will have to act out how you would deal with the given situation.  


  2. The job you're going for will probably involve working with others - teamwork, and group exercises are a good way of seeing how well people work in a team.

    You might be given a task to complete as a team - nothing relevant to the NHS - say crossing a flooded river, when all you have are say, two oil drums, five bits of wood, a rope and dustbin lid.  

    Their aim will be to see how well candidates work as a team to complete the task - so they will look for people who come up with ideas, who are prepared to talk AND listen, involve others, move the project forward, keep the overall aim in mind.  

    Whether you come up with a credible solution to cross the river is not the point.  They will be looking for how you work as a team - communication, planning, organisation, leadership skills - to achieve a common goal - just as you will have to if you get the job.

    So, be yourself, think about the team skills needed in the job you are applying for, and .... good luck!
