Ok...so this has kinda of a long history to it but here it goes...

My grandmother's sister recently passed away. There was some hurtful words between them while they were both alive which resulted in words not being spoken for close to 5 years. Well my grandmother died almost 4 years ago and with her sister recently passing, there are some people on my side of the family who do not want to attend the services. I'm kinda of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I feel I should go to the services because after all she was my aunt. Plus my grandfather is going, but I keep thinking about all of the c**p that my grandmother was put through because of her sister and it just makes me keep rethinking what I should do.

Can anyone help me out? Also...the main point of this question if I attend the services would it be ok to just wear black pants and a white short sleeve shirt?

  1. I think that you should still go out of respect.  What ever has happened in the past is in the past.  Pay your respects and leave.  Your outfit sounds good.

  2. yes thats good,

i wore black pants and a striped white and black short sleeve shirt with black heels ... you  could try that to.

but really  it doesn't matter what you wear as long as your there to give your respect

  3. You cannot go wrong wearing as much black as possible to a funeral. It is nice that you do want to attend. It is not nice that people take sides. I mean unless you were present during the hurtful words between your grandmother and her sister, you only know someone else's interpretation of the problem. I think you can be your own person and go to this since going to funerals helps us all realize that we too will be dead sometime. So good for you for realizing that even though there are people on your side of the family who are too exclusive to attend, you do have a mind of your own and do not take sides .

  4. that outfit would be fine.

i say, go and pay your respects. be the better person for yourself and for your family. at the end of the day, you will feel better about yourself and GOD will appreciate your presence. good luck!
