have a 2002 chevy cavalier and i just got 4 new tires put on today. and the faster i go the louder the tires get. i know i bought some cheap tires but honestly its loud as h**l. it seems to be mostly coming from the driver side front tire. my car was pulling towards the left before i got the new tires, and i was going to get a front end alignment, but the new tires seem to have straightened it out. so i am just wondering does it sound like i still need a front end alignment? the tires are loud when going straight and quiet when i turn if that means anything. for example when im driving its loud and then i switch lanes and itll be quiet for a second until i am going forward again.

  1. Do you feel a little wobbling while driving and it disappears when u use the brake? Then, one of your tyres must be loose on the wheel.  Personal experience for me

  2. Make sure the tire pressures in all tires are the same.  Do this after the tires have cooled.  If one tire pressure is low on one side of the vehicle, it will cause the vehicle to pull toward that side, especially if it is a front tire.  Assuming you already did this, look in the fender wells to see if anything obvious may be rubbing on a tire when it is turned.  You did not state if you had these professionally installed or had some neighborhood teenager do it.  By all means, contact the installer ASAP and complain about it, for they need to know if they are doing a poor job and/or if they are selling poor quality tires.  Of coarse, if you like to drive 80 mph or more, everything will make noise, but I am assuming you obey speed limits to a reasonable degree.

  3. You should have the alignment check every time you out new tires on a car and if it is okay then it is just the tires that are making the noise and no big deal.............................

  4. Most road noise is caused by the tread pattern friction on the pavement,   thus the reason those big mud grip tires are so noisy.

How loud is h**l?    Just wondering.

Whether you not you need the alignment will not be affected by the tires,  but will affect tire wear.    What did the tires you took off look like,  worn on one side but not the other?    (Alignment maybe),      Cupped or scalloped along the sides? (balance most likely).     It is important to look at your tires to determine problems.
