  1. It sounds like you may have a warped, cracked, or broken brake rotor. Best to take the front wheels off and inspect the whole brake system. Brake rotor failure comes from overheated brake pads, misaligned brake calipers, or sometimes a defective wheel bearing.  Take your car to a mechanic ASAP;  Your life is in your hands, especially if you can't get your car to stop when you want it to.

  2. Your front brake rotors are warped. This is a common problem on GM cars and if the warpage isn't too severe you can machine the rotors flat again for about 10 bucks each (not counting labor to remove and replace them). If they are damaged to the point of no return they will have to be replaced -- still won't break the bank and you can have your front brake pads changed in the process.

  3. If the A.B.S. light isn't coming on, the rotors are warped. They may be able to be turned. If not they need to be replaced, which is what most chain brake shops will say anyway and charge a 300% mark up. Auto parts stores carry them and they are easy to install.

  4. sounds like your front brake rotors are warped, you need to have them resurfaced or replaced.
