Attention Mothers of six month olds? What all are they doing now?

My six month old daughter is doing great and pacing accordingly with those week by week books on development, but I can't help but wonder "where she is" with real six month olds. In some cases, she is a little ahead and in some other areas, she is either about to be there or a few weeks away, i.e. sitting completely unassisted.

She does do this quirky thing that is so funny and that is twirling her tounge with that fun "twirl" sound... some may refer to it as the "rolled R" sound heard in non English languages. It is so freaking funny... and sometiems it sounds just like she says "hey" .. as all parents, we just love em all the same, but it's so fun to see her grow so I am always curious how other 6 month olds are doing.

For the record, I am pleased with my daughter's development, and I love her very much, but this is being done just b/c I can't sleep (ha) and am "thinking" about her. :)

  1. Well my daughter is almost seven months old now, but I will still answer :D

Let's see - she's been crawling for about two months now. She pulls herself up on the couch, chairs, walls, etc. and walks alongside them (believe me, I am NOT ready for this yet!). She babbles a lot (dadadada, babababa, gagaga). She loves following me around the house right now. She chases the cat a lot as well. She's really interested in toys lately, especially banging them together. She recognizes her name most of the time and she has a good idea of who are strangers and who aren't. She has been starting to try to walk a little but she falls down immediately. And man, she is LOUD! SHe does is just for the attention, but she'll be playing and laughing and then just scream a happy loud scream. It's funny but sometimes it really catches me off guard. Oh, and she has two teeth and more coming, so pretty much everything ends up in her mouth!

  2. My son is 6 months (just turned yesterday yaay) He can sit for only a few minutes at a time unassisted, though its getting longer every day. He loves his exesaucer and loves standing in it. If he keep him balanced he will actually take steps on the floor (you should try this, so cute!) If we lay him on the floor on his belly and put a toy just out of reach he's start to move a little (even though its backwards, but hey its a start) ummm he's also starting to get separation anxiety.

Mine sounds like he's saying hey too, and he loves hitting me with his toys.
