Attention Ticos in Costa Rica! I understand that the American Embassy is cancelling the annual 4th of July?

"American Independence day picnic'!!!!!!!!!

Can any one verify this for me as I was planning on visiting CR then!

Costa Rican's  (tico's) can not go to the 4th of July picnic.  Only US citizens are permitted to enter the grounds.  You must present your passport at the gate in order to be allowed to enter.  There has been nothing said about the picnic being cancelled this year and I can't imagine that it would be.  It is a tradition for all of us Expats living here.  Keep your plans, the picnic is still on.

The embassy does not sponsor the celebration, it is the Association of American Residents that handle it.  I might check the Tico Times.
