Attention construction workers please.My brother repaired one stair using quikrete quick setting?

Question

cement.he did not use gloves and now his hands have lines, dry and burning sensation.

it is night time. is there any thing over the counter, I can buy for him. he is a visitor in Illinois and was trying to help me.

Can I buy any ointment in Walgreen or CVS stores?

The quickset has dried and irritated the skin, this is actually a mild chemical burn.  I'd suggest a good hand lotion, or even petroleum jelly.  Soaking them in cold water may help relieve the 'burning' sensation when it flares up.  If you have any kind of 'burn ointment' it may help.

If you've got a pair of vinyl gloves that will fit him, I'd slather the hands, and put the gloves on.  In a pinch, you can tie a couple of ziplock bags over them, to help keep from getting the lotion, or petroleum jelly over everything else, heheh.

I hate to say it, but if he would have read the package, this would not be an issue right now.  Quick setting concrete has agents in it that creates heat when mixed with water to quickset the concrete.  When this gets on the hands, in many cases, it causes a burning sensation and along with the concrete mix itself, dries the skin.  Have him soak them in luke warm water for a while and try to remove as much of the mix from his hands as possible.  Then, follow up with a good lotion that will help restore the moisture to his skin.  This may affect him for a few days, but he will be fine.  It's very uncomfortable for sure.  Next time I bet he wears rubber gloves!  Good luck.

Neosporin is what you need..his hands will soon crack and bleed a little then possibly peel some.. Neo is the best for this..I have had concrete burns many a time ..My father owned a fence company..and I have gotten a few times..I am a 37 year experienced painter..but had to help my dad build fences from the age of 8 years old untill 13 when I started painting for my uncles..

concrete burn-soak in water try to remove with soft brush-use hand lotion to stop drying will be ok in a few days
