  1. Have you thought of a virtual school like Connections Academy/GED programs are another option..Dont give up

  2. DONT GIVE UP  YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS ADHD maze. I'm 38 and have graduated .  I have adhd and I'm trying to get my 16 year old son and an 18 year old foster son thru now, so I know what a nightmare it all can be. Please find yourself a friend or an advicate to help you with the process. I found the most sucess with going directly to the special ed director at school. They usually won't help you with much until you have a recent diagnosis of yout disability=ADHD. The school is obligated under the law to pay for you to be tested. I recomend doing this asap. You should also push really hard for your school to show you the alternative way to graduate, be it thru udult ed or another program. My son was failing and going to quit and our school let him take less of a course load and still will graduate with his class this year. Public schools don't offer much info up . So you or an advocate MUST keep pushing. Keep your chin up. There is help out here. I just said to my husband tonight "that i didn't deserve to be on earth, bucuz I'm Sooo horibbly disorganized" If your school won't help you they are breaking the law and in most states they will have to pay for you to go to a different school. Have you considered trying to get your GED? There is no shame in trying an alternative route when the one we are on isn't working. Adult ed programs can help you get the one on one help you need and help prepare you to take the GED test .DONT get down on yourself too much . There are millions of us out here that are in the same boat. Grab on to a life raft and enjoy the ride. You can do this sweetie. dont give up even when you want to.

  3. If you have this diagnosis then you should be allowed to attend classes via the special ed program or with accomodations and tutoring support.  Also the testing should give you what you need to be successful which may include open book or other accomodations, or a different testing method altogether.  You need an IEP, since you are 19 you can call an IEP meeting with yourself, parents, counselor, principal and develop a plan with them that is going to support you and allow for a system or structure to be set up that provides proper accomodations.

  4. Have you tried any kind of medications to help with that? I completely understand your situation. I ended up dropping out of school when I was 17, I am now 25 and trying to upgrade some high school classes to get into post secondary. I also have slight concentration problems, but the best thing to do is try getting some extra help from teachers on things you don't understand, or try seeing about a tutor for subjects you are really struggling with. I know they can be expensive, but it will be worth it. All I can say is stay in school. It is not worth dropping out, I did it and all I can say is now I really regret it, and am working even harder just to finish what I screwed up. Besides that, finding jobs without a high school education can be hard, and chances of earning more and even liking your jobs will be less. Keep playing your music, even try playing just before studying to help calm yourself and to get your brain warmed up.

Or as said above, try different types of programs like independent studies. I found that I did better in english doing it that way, but with sciences and math, I am better off being taught in class.

Hope this helps!!! And sometimes I feel I don't like myself either when I don't understand things I am learning. I was diagnosed with depression at a very young age, which is actually why I can't concentrate well, and I sometimes feel like giving up too easily. If you feel like you are too under pressure, and hate school that much, sometimes taking a year off school to take a nice break might help too.
