i was out in the ocean on a boat in the south pacific and caught a 18 inch saltwater bass and a small bull shark

My best was when I was 14. I was fishing on a boat off the coast of Southern CA and kind of half sleeping. I had the bait on the bottom and had been there for a while. All of a sudden it was yanked! I had the hardest time pulling this thing up and it took a long time - not sure how long as I couldn't check my watch but it felt like an hour - was probably more like 20-30 minutes.

Anyway, I was the only female and the youngest person on the boat, so by the time I got it up, everyone was there, cheering me on and giving "encouragement" in the form of suggestions. It was crazy. It ended up being a beautiful California Sheephead (orange and black). I can't remember how big it was, but it was the biggest catch on the boat that day!

no one else believed it at the time, but the photos of the fish made it easy. nose on the deck the tail was just under my chin.

When I was just a little girl with my snoopy fishing pole, I hooked a huge fish in the Allegheny river... I fought to bring it in for a good 10 minutes and when I finally got it ashore I saw that it was more than a foot and a half long! I was so excited about the big fish I caught and then my Dad said "Carp taste like c**p" and threw it back...... I cried.
