Yesterday, me and my friends got into an argument. We were playing pool and it came down to who sunk the eightball first. He hit the eightball into the corner poket and then two seconds later, the cue ball went into the same pocket. I told him that I won because he scratched, he told me that as long as the cue ball goes in after the eight ball that it is not considered scratching. Who is right and who really won that game???

  1. u r correct-it IS considered scratching.

  2. i would say you won. however, to ensure you victory next time i would suggest, firs you offer an gentleman's handshake. the tell him his shoe is untied. when he looks do to check out his shoe laces. introduce the business ind of the pool cue firmly against the back of his head, while simultaneously saying, i won.

  3. you win, if s/he scratched after the 8-ball is made no matter what pocket s/he loses and the opposing player wins.  If unsure about a rule, look it up in the rule book or on the internet.

  4. scratch on the eight ball = loss.

  5. Dont turn your back on him .He must play blondes alot

    Good game kid you won.

  6. I found your question confusing....you are saying that he shot it into the corner but that it not go in and 'hung" around for 2 seconds before it fell in....is this correct?......if this is your question....he wins the game....there is what is called a "5 second" rule in BCA rules......if it moves or falls in before the 5 seconds it counts....if it falls afterwards....you place it as close to the spot where it was and the next shooter shoots.......had that happen to my opponent with the "cue ball" ......it fell after much more then 5 seconds and he "yelled" for "ball in hand".....":wrongo"......the cue ball got spotted right about the same spot by the pocket and he had to shoot from there......like I said, if that was your question.....SORRY!  you lose!!.............looks like I am wrong....read your question again and you are right.....he scratches so he loses the game!!!

  7. The shot is not over until all balls come to rest. He scratched. If you are playing that you cannot scratch on the 8 ball, then you won.

  8. u won and he did really scratch

  9. you are the winner, a game doesn't end until the cue ball stops. even if he sunk the eight ball first, it still scratched, that is a foul shot, you could return the eight at the upper middle of the table and hit it again (ball in hand). but since it is a ball in hand, it is considered as you won coz that is a freeball, you could place the cue ball anywhere you are comfortable that makes you shoot the ball easy

  10. Any time the cue ball goes into a pocket on the same shot the ''8" ball is made the shooter loses the game; cut & dried. The cue ball is supposed to be on the table and come to rest before the game is over. I cannot think of any professional or amateur pool league that says the shooter wins after making the '8' ball and then scratching. A person that tells you that most likely thinks you're legally blonde... or worse.

  11. the cue ball must stop before the shot is over.

  12. the white was sunk on the same stroke as the black wich makes you the winner as the eight white ball should always remain in play on the table. he fouled you won

  13. 20. LOSS OF GAME. A player loses the game if he commits any of the following infractions:

    a. Fouls when pocketing the 8-ball (exception: see 8-Ball Pocketed On The Break).

    b. Pockets the 8-ball on the same stroke as the last of his group of balls.

    c. Jumps the 8-ball off the table at any time.

    d. Pockets the 8-ball in a pocket other than the one designated.

    e. Pockets the 8-ball when it is not the legal object ball.

Note: All infractions must be called before another shot is taken, or else it will be deemed that no infraction occurred.

  14. if you scratch on the 8 ball you LOSE

  15. You won, he's trying to cheat you. You shouldn't play with sore losers. You can't scratch on the eight ball.
