Question:

Attic Room color advice (look for further details)

I've finally convinced my parents to let me paint my room, after living in it for about 2 years. It was part of the attic, so the walls slant in at a good angle. One of my "walls" is more of the slanted ceiling. It's a decent size and has 1 regular window and then a little half window (I don't know what else to call it) in a cut out of the ceiling.

I have a dark green/blue carpet that makes me want to puke, but there's nothing that I can do about that. I have a darker wood desk and sleigh bed and a light wood dresser and entertainment center. I also have two white washed night stands and a futon.

Basically what I'm trying to get at is that I need color ideas for the walls. I already have white walls, and I don't want anything too light or white-ish, if you know what I mean. I'll probably keep my wood work the same, or darken it up just a little bit with some stain. Oh, I don't have a door, and painting the stair-well would be a bit of a pain.

And ideas? Please and thank you :]

  1. You could get an area rug to put over the carpet and then you will be able to paint the walls whatever color you like. Take the white washed night stands and paint the same color as the wall color. You could even use two colors on different walls that coordinate with the rug and comforter.

  2. well over the computer I'm having a hard time picturing your room but this is what I suggest, take a look around your room and figure out what colors look the best and work for you. Maybe the colors from your bed spread will inspire the color of your walls? I don't know but maybe you could do something about that carpet, a rug or maybe ask your parents to pull it up, it might be wood under there or maybe you could install inexpensive wood or another carpet.
