Attic conversion?

me and my mom want to convert our attic into a space for my friends and my sisters friends and a space to just hang out and watch tv and stuff like that. but we dont know how much that costs and my sister is about to go to college and we dont know how much that will cost and we need to save incase she doesnt get a scholarship. can anyone give me any idea of the requirements for that are like just a half bathroom and closets and if we can use the air conditioning for the main house up there also.

Not sure about the air conditioning, depends on the capability of your unit, but I saw this Don't Sweat It episode where Steve and the homeowner put a fairly large walk in closet in an attic space, and it was so very very much easier than I would have imagined, This is the link http://www.hgtv.com/home-improvement/bef... but as it was a while ago there are no pics now just instructions, point being, it isn't that hard, if you are even moderately handy you could do it, or you could just hire an electrician to hook up your powerpoints and lights and work with a builder or contractor to do the rest to save money.
