I think I'm going to name my son Lukin, after my husband's favorite PJ song, but spell it Luken. What do you think?

  1. I think that sounds beat as all h**l.

  2. If you change the spelling it will be even harder to recognize what he's named after and you will always have to explain it.  It's gonna get old.

  3. To be honest I think it's a bad idea for a first name.  My parents named me Delorie, and it's supposed to rhyme w/ celery, but 9 out of 10 people pronounce it wrong (or call me desirae or melanie or something), and it's really annoying.

Why not make Lukin his middle name? It'll still be there but he won't have to be stuck with it.

  4. Oh - I was just going to say Jeremy. Haha Honestly, I think it's an awful name, why not name him after one of the band members instead? Please not Lukin though.

  5. Honestly, I wouldn't.  I'm mostly against strange baby names...Vedder and co. aren't going to be grateful for your tribute to them anyway, so what's the point?  People will probably assume his name is Luke.  Think about it...is your favorite song at the moment a really good basis for a name your son will carry all his life?

If you're really crazy for Pearl Jam, how about an obvious choice: Jeremy.  Just don't name him Yellow Ledbetter. :)

Luken is far from the worst I've heard, though.  You might like this website, it's really funny (don't worry, it's not selling something):

  6. Exactly. Stuck with it forever.

I would call him Pukin' Lukin.

  7. Sure, it will be different.

  8. As a middle name maybe... jeremy would be sort of a jinx anyhow wouldn't it??  Neglicted kid that shoots his whole class??  probably not the best tribute.  I'm thinking Foxymophandle...  much better. ;)  hahahaha
