I am halfway to completing my degree in IT with a focus in Network Administration. Next term I will start my focus courses. I would like to get a headstart in becomming familiar with software applications that are commonly used in the networking industry.

Which applications do you feel will be most important for me to understand?

I also currently have a dual-boot system and would like to set up another operating system on the partitioned drive that I am not using anymore.Which networking OS application would be important for me to learn? The partition has 48 GB.

Thanks for any guidance : )

  1. There are more NOS's out there than PCOS. Sun microsystems has a NOS solaris, Novel, Cisco, Windows server ect...... It all depends on what you want to do.

    MR. B CCNA, CNA A+

  2. I have had to ue wireshark to analyze packets. This could be helpful. As for the second operating system depends what you want to service. Maybe windows server, or some flavor of linux.

    I hope this helps.
