  1. slight perfectionist wouldn't be considered OCD.  Extreme repetitive behavior is more OCD, extreme frequent hand washing, driving in same direction, going right, right, right...and never getting to your destination, checking and rechecking and rechecking again and again, if your locked your car doors, locked your windows.

There is medication which helps OCD alot, also antianxiety, antidepressant.  Wellbutrin XL and Effexor XL might be helpful, Cymbalta.

You can check american mental health association for very helpful information on various forms of depression.

The good is that you admit to having a problem and need help.  Now you need to get the help before you're too depressed to take action getting the help.

Also, there are shrinks and psychotherapists that need their own shrinks...If you have a psychiatrist, psychotherapist that you don't feel is helpful and caring enough, you don't click with them, move on and get another one right away!

Like any other profession or line of work, there are great ones, good ones, bad ones and those who just want the income & don't care too much about your well being.

You mention you want to be happy again, Wellbutrin XL and Cymbalta are worth checking out on webmd.com.

Good luck and hope you feel well and happy again soon.  Also if you're sleep deprived this can have serious effect on depression.  If possible catch up on sleep.

  2. Yes, I believe a combination of the above can serve to overcome depression.

I take an antidepressant and it has really helped me overcome my depression.

  3. Sometimes it helps.

  4. yes i had depression and was on 100 zoloft for awhile and over came it and talked to therapits and stuff i had to. it was quite the thing now i am back on it again but different meds and i wold start crying and stuff no reason and i cna't do it myself and know that peole can't do it themselves so yes i woul dget help sure i am proud do but you knw when you hae this type of problem there is nothing youc ando but follow what they tell you and move on you can't do it by yourself.

  5. I was in counseling and on medication, as well as counseling. I had worked as a counselor before depression and I worked as a counselor after, I no longer require medication or counseling, I have my life back on track. With Help from my faith in God.

  6. If the depression is chemical, you will need meds to help it.  If the depression is environmental, changing your life will help a great deal.

Don't be to proud to ask for help.  Millions of people suffer depression.  Nowadays, it is nothing to ask for help.  You will feel so much better.

  7. try noni juice it is all natural and works great for many thing that doctors want to use drugs for . i had my son i=on it and he was different person . and i took it also and it made me feel really good .

  8. yes hun seeing a psychiatrist can help..it did for me..i hope it will 4 u 2...if u ever need to talk you can email me....i will pray 4 u

  9. My psychologist helped me to understand myself better, and gave me tips and tricks to help me maintain my level of self confidence, however, believe it or not, the best way to overcome depression is to eat a very low sugar diet.  My depression decreased when I started eating to lower my insulin level after I was diagnosed as a hypoglycemic.

My self esteem improved and my life improved.  If I don't watch my diet, the anxiety and depression can return (but less than before).

  10. Counselling definitely helps most people, at least for a while. Sorry, I am unable to avoid weblinks, and my post on OCD is too long to fit here. My website has had 30,000+ hits, and gets a green light from McAfee Site Advisor as containing no malware.

Perfectionism is thought to be related to OCD, and anxiety, so check out sections 7, (page H first) and 6, at www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris * Stress is addressed in section 42, and depression in section 2; view page R first, then female depression, page V, and the rest.

Visualise a dial, with the setting at 100; now visualise yourself changing it to 99, 98, or 97, as much as you think you can live reasonably comfortably with, for a while, at least; maybe even 96, or 94! Practice the EFT on page 3c, at *ezy build. Pages 2, 2.q and 2.o also refer. Say to yourself: (silently, in your mind, if in public) "I deeply and completely accept myself, even though I currently tend towards perfectionism".

This allows for the possibility of change. There is a version for use in public, for which you can claim to have a headache, as you massage your temples. Also practice daily, one of the relaxation techniques, on pages 2, 11, 2.c, or 2.i, but they may take some time to master: use what works best for you. There are 3 motivation downloads, at "hypnosis downloads", in section 3. They are reputable, and reasonably priced, if you are fairly suggestible.

  11. The medication I am on has helped me overcome depression

  12. Hi, I have OCD too.

and I'm pretty sure I have depression, too.

I'm hoping counseling works, because I

    hear the medication doesn't :'(

  13. Find something you really love, whether it be a boyfriend/girlfriend, a sport (running?), or a band and use that as a cope mechanism. I went to a therapist and she made me feel worse, saying I was "crazy and psycho." Definitely do not take anti-depressants, as they have long-term effects.

As for OCD, try to overcome it. I have a thing with skipping the last step whenever I walk down stairs, as well as walking exactly three steps in each cement block. Also, everything HAS to be on the left for me, like me walking with someone, taking a left-step first, and talking with the phone on the left ear. Now, when I climb down stairs, I make sure to step on the last step, take four steps in cement blocks, and put cotton in my ears to ensure that I have to talk on the right ear. Just try to do something to avoid doing the task.

  14. Step 1: Ensure your emotion is controlled daily. Don't over reacted, stay calm and don't get worry easily

Step 2: Think before your action. Don't repeat her past experience on herself. Remind herself from time to time.

Step 3: Be confident to yourselves. Remember everyone is the winner. "Only One sperms out of millions fertilize an egg"

Step 4: Get a group of close friends to share your experience and get some activities that would occupied your time

Step 5: Increase scope of life. Meaning that she should involve in more social activities like dancing, outing and others.

Step 6: Put a rubberband on the wrist. If there is a negative thought, Tighten the rubber band and release it. Hence the effect of the pain would be able to reduce the possibility of negative thought.

    Good Luck.
