I'm going to visit Vancouver and Vancouver Island in B.C. Canada with my family. Does anyone (who lives there or knows the place) have any suggestions for attractions? Thanks, I have done the research, but I'd like to hear some suggestions too.

  1. here are some tips and suggestions:

    go to Stanley Park!!!

you can hike, bike, just lay down on the grass, have picnic and basically, do just about anything there!!!!

    the place is truly AMAZING!!!

There's the Brockton Point Lighthouse, Totem Poles and Prospect Point, where you could have a great view of the Lions Gate Bridge and Grouse Mountain from the top of Prospect Point.

You might also want to consider going to Cypress Mountain and watch the beautiful sunset from there. It's only 30 minutes away from the heart of downtown Vancouver.

It also offers one of the best ski resorts in town!!!

It'll aslo be fun to visit Gastown's Historical Steamclock, which was designed and built by Ray Saunders in 1977. It belches steam and hoots out the famous Westminster chimes "Big Ben" theme!!! i love it!!!

you could also spend a perfect day at Granville Island.

Granville Island lies below the Granville Street bridge. The public market has everything you need and the island also offers lots of places to dine.

You could also bring your dog and jog on the beach of Vancouver Downtown.

the beach is not good for swimming but it's really nice to see in Downtown.

You should also dine at THE EATERY... The Funkiest place for Japanese food indeed!

    hehehe yum yum!!!

Walk around the structure of Canada Place to get a good panoramic view of the city!!!

    fantastic!!!

Don't miss the Capilano Suspension bridge too!!!

It is said to be Vancouver's oldest tourist attraction, which was originally built in 1889.

It stretches 450 feet (137m) across and 230 feet (70m) above the Capilano River.

Go and visit the Lighthouse Park too, if you have more time.

It contains the largest uncut, coastal-elevation trees in the Lower Mainland, which a spectacular view!!! This is within a 10-minute walk of the parking lot.

Also, ride a ferry (about an hour and a half) going to Victoria Island to complete your Vancouver experience!

It is said to be the vacation capital of Canada.

Go to the Parliament building to have a good view of marina; then, have a tea break at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. It is one of Victoria's highlights, with its true British tradition and atmosphere!!!

Before going back to the city, have a soup and salad at Pagliacci's, which is very popular to the locals for is great pasta, desserts, and wonderful ambiance!!!

  2. some attractions in Vancouver would be going to Stanley Park and downtown, mostly the west side of vancouver.Hope that helped a bit.

  3. What you're going to want to do depends on whether or not you are travelling with kids and how old they are.  Also, where are you from, as you may not want to do things that you have back home.

But in general, for kid-friendly attractions I like Science World, the Vancouver Aquarium, the MacMillan Space Centre, Capilano Suspension Bridge.  Victoria (on Vancouver Island) has a wax museum.

For other-than-kid attractions, you may like Granville Island, Horseshoe Bay, Metrotown (mall), Stanley Park.  Butchart Gardens is on Vancouver Island.

  4. As you probably have already discovered, Vancouver has Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, Van Duesen Gardens, Minter Gardens.  Granville Island has lots of great stuff, go to Stewarts Bakery and get anything, it's all great, go for gelato, watch the artisans, if anybody likes beads there is a good bead shop there.

For Vancouver Island, where I live, you can go Bungy jumping or canyon zipping at the Wildzone, hike around Westwood Lake or walk the seawall in Nanaimo, eat Nanaimo bars, get fish and chips (Trollers) on the walk way, get Mexican food at Ginas, go to Butterfly World, visit Chemainus, go to Rathtrevor Beach, see the goats on the roof at Coombs
