Attractive vs. Cute?Can someone help me?

My mother and I were watching T.V. and she said that she thought a woman on there was attractive but not cute. How can that be? I thought attractive and cute were the same thing. If someones cute or attractive, aren't they pleasant to look at.I'm confused. Can someone inform me here?

Marilyn Monroe was cute and attractive, Liv Tyler is cute and attractive. Nicole Kidman Attractive but not cute. I think the cute part is more personality than looks although a baby is cute in looks, so are puppies.

Cute is like a puppy, it has to be "cute" because it is not "ugly" and it appears as you would know someone else to understand its looks.

Attractive is someone saying that they could/are attracted to something or someone.  Attractive means more than just cute; take it as cute understanding that others would know it to be pleasing but attractive to be the person saying it to not prefer that type or someone presented.

which is basically the way I would describe cute

Attractive is more...abstract. A guy with glasses and long hair may be attractive to one person, while he may not be to another. It just means that a person appeals to you, or looks good to you, but not necessarially in a childlike manner (like cute)

there's a difference to me...

if someone shows me a pic,

and I don't think they are sexually attractive ill say "you're cute", and they could very well be cute

but its not the same to me as finding them attractive

if they are attractive cute gets upgraded to "hot" and so on lol

well. I think that attractive women carry themselves and their gear in a way that stands out might be due to a flaw or not. If you are cute you are cute not necessarily attractive. I think its in the carry. I am lead to believe I am beautiful and cute by friends and family. I do understand what she meant.
