  1. bzurcher's Full Review: 2001 Honda FourTrax Recon

I got this ATV in march of '99 and have had a ton of fun with it. The things that I like the most about are a fairly fast top speed(for a 250 utility)of around 53mph, awesome stability, light weight/easy to throw around on high speed trails, suspension setup, and the fact that I have had it submerged to just below the pipe with no problems. What I don't like is the small amount of ground clearance (5 1/2in.), Suspension travel (around 5in. at both ends),odd tire size, and lack of oil cooler. But considering the fact that this is an ATV for fun, trails, and light work I would say that those are all minor problems. The Recon is very easy to drive because of the low center of gravity (not very tippy), responsive engine, automatic clutch, and light weight. I am very happy with my purchase of this vehicle, and I feel that for $3600 it cant be beat.

P.S For all of you speed freaks (i'm one) in stock form the Recon can beat a Polaris 335 2x4, a Honda Oddessey F250L, a Honda 300 4x4, and keep up with a forman 400(all from my experience) with plenty of potential because of the aftermarket. Also, for anyone looking for good replacement tires, Maxxis 22x11x9 tires work well in mud, snow, and trails, and fit on the stock rims.

I would say yes, if hes mature enough, Only because this baby will do 50 mph, and a turn at that speed could kill anyone.

  2. ya it would be good at that''''
